You will find in the pictures section a full covering the aircraft final stages of construction and the successfull event organised by the Museum. A special thanks to Nicolas, Didier Waelkens and the Halberstadt team as well to Firmin Henrard team for their pictures and their contribution to the de Caters final run. Thanks to the PR of the Museum we can also share with you the press releases about the de Caters. (pdf in Dutch pdf in French ) In a few weeks we will release two booklets. The first will describe the de caters in drawings and the second will cover the history of the de caters replica construction. The second volume will also contain a CD containing all the pictures taken during the construction. Theses booklets are in first priority reserved for our sponsors and the bamf & bamrs members. The inauguration of the de caters was also the occasion to see in action the new lighting installed in the ww1 gallery. A new set of weapons is also displayed around the F-16. The special evening of December 4th will permit you to discover these new features as well as a lot of other attractions.   We are also happy to see Eric to come back. He is our "second" Eric but first in metal repairs. Eric is from Lourdes in France and work at Sabena Technics. He is helping us a lot on the A-26 & the B-25 and will soon organise training on structure repairs for us. This Saturday, the Bamf board of directors meet. Now with the de Caters in our back we can come back to our own projects. The B-25 is now in the final stages of anti corrosion process and the next steps are under planing. We have already a lot others activities on our short list for the near future and 2009. We will be present at the special evening of December 4th. On December 5th, the book of Guy de Caters will officially be published. A last word to please you to widely diffuse our news. Royal Army Museum Air & Space Hall Brussels - Nov 29, 2008 by bamf.bamrs In 2005, the two engines of the Invader were laid down for restoration for static display. It means corrosion was cleaned and coats of protection were applied. But the engine was not maintained for fllight.From April, 21th, the team prepare to install back the first restored engine. Note the crane and energy supply unit are fromp 1940's vintage. The book will contain around 120 pages in 21 x 29,7 cm format.  This biography of the first Belgian aviator is written be a relative of Pierre de Caters and contains documents from the familly archives never published before. One of the most renowned specialist of pioneers aviation collaborated in this project. You can already order your copy. He was a 2nd TAF air gunner with 180 squadron flying Mitchell B25 and I have just published a major children's book based on the stories he told me. It's called Tail-End Charlie. Many of our books are published in the Netherlands and although this is the first book we made that tackles WW2 or planes it's been 10 years in the making. I am an associate member of the 2nd TAF MBA veterans association. . For this purpose, the bamf is currently contracting insurance for 12 restorers. The restoration activities have already started and will soon enter greater scale operations. Although we are looking for persons with technical knowledge in aircraft restoration, we want also give the opportunity to unexperienced volunteers to join the project on a benevolent basis. If you have any information or references where he can search please contact him.   Fox Moth OO-ENC colours : Carl Gootzen <Carl.Gootzen@scarlet.be> is looking for the colours of the De Havilland Fox Moth OO-ENC used by Guy Hansez for flight from Antwerp to Congo in the Thirties. This aircraft is still extent in New Zealand. Carl has found a newspapers article speaking of red wings. In the UK, the aircraft was painted in a blue and red scheme. Some of the fine scale models on display in the Stampe Museum were build by Carl. Please if you any idea where the information can be found contact Carl or us.   Marquain Aerodrome BOSTA 6 of BOGHOL 5 1918 I have been trying to find out the details of the aerodrome at Marquain, Belgium in 1918. I believe it was the home of BOSTA 6 of BOGHOL 5, a German bomber unit operatingthe Friedrichshafen GIIIa. I have been struggling to find anyone in the UK who could help me and wondered if you might either have anyinformation or be able to refer me to someone in Belgium who might be able to help. There is a new temporary exhibition dedicated to Aviation Aces installed at the first floor.   A lot of enhancements have been performed to prepare the next Special evening including refurbishing the WW1 aircraft enclosure and installing new lighting.   There are also of activities to prepare the de Caters exhibition. Hereafter, you can find a very realistic head of Pierre de Caters prepared for the scene near the aircraft.   André Fillée and his team are also working hard to complete the educationnal display for the end of 2009.   Two excellent books are published about Dieppe and 349 Squadron.   Last but not least the last update of Hangar Flying include the two first articles by famous French speaking writers.
