The photos of the memorial of 19/12 of Lancaster DX-P of 57 Sqd (that came down in Lierde on December 21 1942) are online.
We hold this memorial every year at the time and date of the crash (as good as we can)

It was freezing, and had snowed the whole day (about 15-20 cm snow). The same weather conditions as on December 21 1942.
It was impossible to get there by car without "snow tires".
Some came  whole the way by feet.

But 30 persons could make their way through the snow and were present at the ceremony.
4 Aldermen of Lierde were present (the Lord Mayor was ill ).
Group Captain Tony Gunby , who served in the 57 Sqd, let us know it was impossible for him to come over by car because of the snow. Also a lot of other people called us to excuse them, cause of the bad weather conditions.
After the ceremony a "heart warming drink" was offered to all.
Wreaths were laying down by the Comunity of Lierde, de inhabitants of the location where the Lancaster came down (an who take care of the monumen), Belgian patriotic organisations and our group, Wings of Memory.

Best wishes to all of you, en enjoy the photos.

Dirk
